On 5 June 2021, the launching meeting of the major project ” China’s oil and gas market system and mechanism reform under energy security constraints” granted in 2020 by National Social Science Fund of China was successfully held in Chengdu, China. The project is led by Professor Dayong Zhang from the Research Institute of Economics and Management, Southwestern University of Finance and Economics. Professor Dayong Zhang is also one of the co-founders of the China Energy Finance Network and has served as the chairperson of the Society for the Studies of Climate Finance (SSCF) since its establishment.
Several renowned scholars and researchers were invited to attend the meeting. These include Professor Ying Fan, Dean of the School of Economics and Management, Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (Beihang University); Professor Qiang Ji, Deputy Director of the institute of system Analysis and Management, Institutes of Science and Development, Chinese Academy of Sciences; Professor Qunwei Wang, Vice Dean of the College of Economics and Management, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics; Professor Xingping Zhang from the School of Economics and Management, North China Electric Power University; and Professor Yuejun Zhang, Vice Dean of the Business School of Hunan University. The academic committee was set up. Professor Ying Fan was unanimously elected as the chair of the committee. All members of the project team attended the meeting. Professor Mingshan Zhou, director of the Division of Research Affairs of Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, attended the meeting on behalf of the university.
The project is mainly undertaken by the core team of China Energy Finance Network-the Team for Integrated Energy and Environmental Research Studies (TIERS) based in Southwestern University of Finance and Economics. Other major members of the research group are Professor Xiansheng Sun, Council Chairman of the International Society for Energy Transition Studies (ISETS); Professor Xunpeng Shi, ISETS President; Professor Xiaolei Sun, a core member of the China Energy Finance Network; and Professor Yan Xia, Secretary General of the SSCF.
The major projects of the National Social Science Fund are considered the most influential research projects in the field of social science in China. The projects’ mission is to launch a series of valuable and profound research to aid national decision-making at the macro level and to meet strategic needs at the national level.
