- Professor Xunpeng (Roc) Shi is Research Principal at the Australia-China Relations Institute University of Technology Sydney, President of the International Society for Energy Transition Studies (ISETS), and a Council Member (President, 2016-2018) of the Chinese Economics Society Australia (CESA). He was listed in the Top 250 Researchers in Australia as the field leader in Environmental Law and Policy, the top 2% of the world’s scientists in the energy field by Stanford University, and the top 2% of authors in the world’s largest database of economists. His research interests cover the full spectrum of energy, climate change and other environmental issues in economics, policy, and sustainable development, with regional focuses on Australia, China, ASEAN, and Northeast Asia. He has been worked in the energy sector for more than two decades as an industrial manager, policy analyst, and academician in Australia, Brunei, China, Singapore and an international think-tank based in Indonesia. He is an advisor to Global Gas Center (GGC), APEC Sustainable Energy Center (APSEC), and UN ESCAP and is frequently participating in the United Nations and other international policy debates. He serves as co-Editor, associate editor, and other editorial roles for more than 10 journals, such as Applied Energy (SCI), Journal of the Asia Pacific Economy (SSCI), China and World Economy (SSCI) and Journal of Environmental Economics (Huanjing Jingji Yanjiu). He obtained the PhD of Economics from the Australian National University.
IETS
International Energy Transition Study (IETS) team is led by Professor Xunpeng Shi, Research Principal at the Australia-China Relations Institute, University of Technology Sydney. The current energy transition is unique and unprecedented and characterized by a “need for speed” in that shifts occur much more quickly than in the past in order to address today’s global challenges. The question of how to enable an effective, inclusive, and just energy transition is garnering significant interest in both academic and policymaking communities. IETS team aims to understand the global energy transition and advising national and international stakeholders on preparing for the challenges for energy transitions, with a regional focus on Australia, Greater China and Southeast Asia. The team has gathered together scholars with different expertise from different regions, including Australia, China and Hong Kong SAR. The team is designed to provide frontier research with rigorous methods to contribute to an effective, inclusive and just energy transition.

- Dr. Yunfei An is a lecturer at the Business School, Henan University. He graduated from the Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (NUAA) with a Ph.D. in Management. During the doctoral study, he was a Joint training Ph.D. student at the Australia-China Relations Institute, University of Technology Sydney. He engaged in the research of energy economics and policy, environmental management, and green transition. He has published 8 articles as the first author or corresponding author in SSCI/SCI journals, such as Energy Policy, Journal of Environmental Management, and Technology in Society. He also served as a reviewer for a series of energy and environmental journals, such as Energy efficiency, Journal of Cleaner Production, Energy Sources Part B, and Scientific Reports.

- Dr. Cheong is an Associate Professor at the Hang Seng University of Hong Kong. He had a PhD in Economics (from the University of Western Australia), a Master’s degree in Applied Finance, a Master’s degree in International Relations, and a Bachelor’s degree (Honours) in Engineering. He is a Founding Member of the International Society for Energy Transition Studies (ISETS), the Co-Editor of the Journal of the Asia Pacific Economy (SSCI), and a Member of the Executive Committee of the Chinese Economics Society Australia. He has conducted research in many different fields and is experienced in the study of economic problems using various econometric and non-parametric techniques. He also has extensive knowledge in Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) analysis and applied economic modelling (GEMPACK ORANI-G, RunGDYN, RunGTAP, TERM). Moreover, he has comprehensive knowledge in state-of-the-art analytical techniques such as machine learning, artificial neural network analysis, and deep learning. Because of his profound knowledge in economic modelling, he has offered training to the staff at the Australian Federal Treasury and PhD students at various Australian universities. He also worked as a consultant for PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Australia and many corporations and non-profit organizations in Hong Kong.

- Yifan Shen is Associate Research Fellow at School of Economics and Management, Tongji University. His research interest is Energy and Environmental Economics, Macroeconomics and Financial Economics. Given the urgent need for decarbonization, his current studies focus on energy transition, sustainable development and green finance. He has published more than 10 research articles in recent two years, in peer-reviewed journals such as Science (Letter), Energy Economics and Economic Inquiry. He graduated from the National University of Singapore with PhD in Economics.

- Dr. Yongping Sun is a professor and Vice Dean at the School of Low carbon economics of Hubei University of Economics, Vice President of the International Society for Energy Transition Studies (ISETS), the Executive Editor of Journal of Environmental Economics (in Chinese), the Council Member of Energy Economy and Management Branch of Chinese Society of Optimization, the Council Member of Chinese Development Economics Society, the Council Member of Climate Change Branch of the Chinese Society of Environmental Sciences, and the Council Member of China Economics Society Australia (CESA). He has published more than 50 high-quality academic papers on Science, Energy Economics, Technological Forecasting and Social Change, Applied Energy, Energy Policy, Journal of Cleaner Production, Resources Policy and so on. His research focuses on Emission trading scheme, global climate governance, climate change economics, carbon leakage, global carbon market link, sustainable development of resource-based regions, and resource revenue management. He was picked as Talents of the “Seven One Hundred” Project of Hubei Province and Talents of Hubei High-level Talent Plan. He obtained a PhD of Economics from Wuhan University.

- Keying Wang is professor and Vice Dean of the School of Low Carbon economics, Hubei University of Economics, post-doctor of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, and visiting scholar of Australian National University. She is mainly engaged in the research on Energy economics, Low-carbon economics and Climate change economics especially in the field of households. In recent years, she has published a number of academic papers and academic books. She is the principal investigator of a National Social Science Foundation project, a China Postdoctoral Science Foundation project, the excellent middle-aged and young scientific and technological innovation team project of colleges and universities in Hubei Province, etc. She obtained a PhD in Economics from Zhongnan University of Economics and Low.

- Muyi Yang is a Senior Electricity Policy Analyst at Ember, a UK-based energy and climate policy think tank. He is also a Senior Research Fellow at Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), and a founding member of the International Society for Energy Transition Studies (ISETS). He is actively engaged in teaching, research and consulting on policy themes related to low-carbon energy transition. Such themes include coal phase-out, renewable uptake, energy governance and institutions, and transport electrification. He has undertaken several major research and consulting projects:, such as Data-Driven Energy Innovations in Asia-Pacific (Data 61 – Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation), Value of Unreliable Power in Pacific Islands (World Bank), National Energy Policy of Papua New Guinea (World Bank), Macroeconomic Impact of Nuclear Power (IAEA – United Nations), Energy Transition and Implications for Extractive Industry in Asia-Pacific (UN ESCAP), Electricity Market Reform in the Philippines (ERIA), A Global Review of Electricity Market Reform (Reliance Infrastructure). She obtained a PhD of Energy Policy and Planning from University of Technology Sydney.

- Jian Yu is an associate professor in the School of Economics, Central University of Finance and Economics. He engaged in the research of energy transition and firm innovation. - Yanfang Zhang is a lecturer at the Research Center for Soft Energy Science in College of Economics and Management, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (NUAA). She engaged in the research of energy economics and management, energy prices, and energy transition policy. She published more than 10 articles in peer-reviewed journals and her work in modeling includes econometric models and dynamic stochastic general equilibrium (DSGE) model. She is the Principal Investigator of a project supported by NSFC and a project supported by the Fundamental Research Funds for the Central Universities. She served as a reviewer for a series of energy and environmental journals, such as Energy Economics, Energy Policy, Resources, Conservation & Recycling, Systems Engineering-Theory & Practice et al. She obtained a PhD of Management from China University of Mining and Technology.

- Dr. Zhibo Zhao is a lecturer at the School of Finance, Qilu University of Technology (Shandong Academy of Sciences). During her doctoral study, she was a Joint training Ph.D. student at the Australia-China Relations Institute, University of Technology Sydney. Her areas of expertise include environmental and energy economics, energy transition, and sustainable development. She has published 7 journal articles as the first author or corresponding author in SSCI, SCI, CSSCI, and other high-level journals, such as Technological Forecasting and Social Change, and Mitigation and Adaptation Strategies for Global Change. She is a member of the International Society for Energy Transition Studies and the Climate Finance Research Branch of the China Society of Optimization and Economic Mathematics. Moreover, she was awarded the Outstanding Achievement Award of Shandong Province and has participated in 5 projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), the National Natural Science Foundation of China Youth Project, Humanities and Social Science Project of the Ministry of Education et al. She graduated from Ocean University of China with PhD in Applied Economics.
