The Sixth Carbon Neutrality and Climate Finance Forum

Climate change is one of the significant challenges facing the world today. The 2024 Government Work Report emphasizes strengthening ecological civilization construction, promoting green and low-carbon development, and advancing carbon peak and carbon neutrality. It also supports Hong Kong and Macau in leveraging their unique advantages to actively participate in the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area and better integrate into the national development framework.

In this context, the Sixth Carbon Neutrality and Climate Finance High-Level Forum will be held on May 17, 2024, at the Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST). This forum is jointly organized by the ISETS Energy Finance Network and the Studies of Climate Finance, Chinese Society of Optimization, Overall Planning, and Economical Mathematics, and co-hosted by the Faculty of Business (MSB) and the Institute for Sustainable Development at Macau University of Science and Technology. Established in 2000, the Faculty of Business is one of the four founding faculties of MUST and has achieved AACSB accreditation, placing it among the top 6% of business schools globally. The Institute for Sustainable Development was established in 2002, guided by principles of “neutrality, scientific integrity, and constructive engagement,” and conducts a variety of public policy research and social surveys related to Macau, undertaking consulting projects commissioned by the Macau SAR Government.

The primary purpose of this forum is to provide a high-quality academic exchange platform for scholars in the dual carbon economy and climate finance, fostering in-depth discussions on critical issues in the fields of dual carbon economy and sustainable development. We warmly invite experts and scholars from both domestic and international backgrounds to gather at Macau University of Science and Technology in May to contribute to efforts against global climate change and the achievement of China’s dual carbon goals.

Topics of Interest: The forum welcomes academic papers related to the dual carbon economy and climate finance. All submitted papers will be reviewed by the conference’s academic committee, co-chaired by Professor Liu Chengkun, Director of the Institute for Sustainable Development at MUST, and Professor Zhang Dayong from the Institute of Economics and Management at Southwestern University of Finance and Economics. The forum will follow a standard international conference format, with both Chinese and English as the working languages.
