The International Conference on Climate and Energy Finance 2022 (ICEF) was successfully held in Nanjing on August 13-14. This conference was organized by China Energy Finance Network, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and Society for the Studies of Climate Finance, Chinese Society of Optimization, Overall Planning and Economical Mathematics, and co-organized by International Society for Energy Transition Studies, Southwestern University of Finance and Economics (TIERS), and Institutes of Science and Development, Chinese Academy of Sciences. This event is one of a series of activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics. Scholars and Editors from universities and research institutions at home and abroad are invited to participate in the discussion on “Energy and Climate Risks in the Energy Transition”. 2022 ICEF was held by a combination of online, offline and webcast, attracting more than 800 experts and scholars from more than 10 countries and regions to attend.
Professor Zhang Dayong moderated the keynote speech. Professor Douglas Cumming from Florida Atlantic University, Professor Caroline Flammer from Columbia University, and Professor Zhang Xiliang from Tsinghua University gave keynote speeches. The theme of Professor Cumming’s report is “Market Manipulation and ESG Incidents”. He introduced whether market manipulation intensifies the violation phenomenon in ESG information disclosure of enterprises and whether government control can effectively alleviate such behavior. Professor Flammer explored the origins, development characteristics and practical issues of the corporate green bond market. Professor Zhang introduced the realistic opportunities and prospects of developing the national carbon market under the vision of “double carbon” target.
Professor Wang Yudong from Nanjing University of Science and Technology, Chairman of the Academic Committee of the conference, presided over the editor-in-chief forum. Professor Lin Boqiang, Co-editor of Energy Economics, Professor Lu Xi, Executive Associate Editor of Environmental Science & Ecotechnology, Professor Shi Xunpeng, Co-editor of Journal of the Asia Pacific Economy, Professor Wang Yudong, Associate Editor of Journal of Forecasting, and Professor Zhou Peng, Senior Editor of Energy Policy, introduced the aim, scope and process of submission for the Journals. As the co-editor of the Journal of Climate Finance, Professor Zhang Dayong introduced the vision, editorial team and submission of the Journal.
There are 41 sessions, and 172 papers were selected in this conference. The topics consist of climate risk and economics, corporate green finance, crude oil market and carbon emission right pricing, etc.
The first expanded Council meeting of the Society for the Studies of Climate Finance was held on 13th August. The Council elected and recommended Prof. Zhang Dayong to serve as the President of the Council, Prof. Ji Qiang, Prof. Lu Xi, Prof. Wang Qunwei, Prof. Wang Yudong, and Prof. Zhang Yuejun to serve as the Vice Presidents of the Council, and Associate Prof. Xia Yan to serve as a Secretary General. 26 executive Council members and 75 Council members were elected.
On 14th August, Professor Ji Qiang, the Chairman of the 2022 ICEF conference gave a closing speech, and announced Hunan University as the host of the 2023 ICEF.
